The Notebook Review forums were hosted by TechTarget, who shut down them down on January 31, 2022. This static read-only archive was pulled by NBR forum users between January 20 and January 31, 2022, in an effort to make sure that the valuable technical information that had been posted on the forums is preserved. For current discussions, many NBR forum users moved over to NotebookTalk.net after the shutdown.

I just tried going back to the Dell Community Forums for the first time in months, and they look completely different and are more difficult to navigate.

When did the change happen? Or am I going to the wrong place?

    Dell Forums?

The link used to be something like http://www.dellcommunity.com or something similar. There used to be a Dell forum where you could PM Dell reps specifically for the XPS laptop...

    Thanks.

I hate the new way they have laid things out. It is much harder to navigate and post in the right section.

I just tried to post in the laptop forum, and it went into the desktop forum for some reason...

They definitely aren't the most user friendly. The page is way too cluttered up.

I do not find the "new" Dell Forums even useable. Hopefully they will get the hint and change them back. But then again maybe Dell does not want us to be too educated..........

To be honest, I think you would receive better support on these forums.

Yeah, same here.. they made it too complicated.. hard to navigate and look what you want to search for as a result.. hence i now use NBR most if not all the time than theirs..

i think its one way to keep people away from your forums.. make it a bit more complicated :)

There is/was a survey on the DCF as to whether users liked the new design or not. Unsurprisingly about 70% of the people did not. I'd provide the link but it's beyond me to remember where it is in that heap of a mess.

I am really surprised nothing has been done to make it more user friendly. preferred the old set up.

That figure is understated. Only 3% liked the redesign, and about 25% were undecided. The redesign went live Nov 7, and a lot of early votes were undecided because people were trying to figure out whether they didn't like it or if they just needed time to get familiar with it. But once you got past those first couple of days, the response was overwhelmingly negative. The negatives quickly shot up to over 70% in the first two weeks, then Dell shut down the polling to keep the number from going even higher.

The forum threads calling for a return to the old forums were loud and persistent, but it gradually became clear Dell has no intention of going back to the more usable format.

I checked out the Dell Comm. Forums a bit..and found that NBR and the Dell forums contained here, were much better...in regards to layout, better info & helpfulness amongst the members. :D
