Hi,
I need a little help. I`ve bought a M1530 in december, it was fine till february when the termal paste had become bad the temps were at about 50 C idle and 80 on load, I replaced it with MX2 Arcgic Cooling and went 8-10 C lower. But Everest and other software detect AUX Temp ????? Idle 60- on load 100C and the temp from 100C drops down in a seconds to 60C when I switch from Counter-Strike to Desktop. My question is what is this AUX and should I be worried. It looks like a component with bad cooling.
Otherwise the XPS is A BEAST))) And I LOVE IT
Hope it wont fry![]()

anyone
pls help

hey boricha,
i have no idea what AUX temp is, but the only ones you should worry about are your GPU and CPU temps, and 80C is completely normal under load
you can try http://www.cpuid.com/hwmonitor.php
its what i use to monitor temps. and it shows no AUX temp, weird.
i wouldn't worry about that man, as long as your system doesn't start to loose performance and FPS while gaming your alright -
I`m using Everest and HWmonitor 10x
but 100C is not "little heat"
I am worried because I`m in Bulgaria and the XPS is with US only warranty. So If I fry it I am screwd
FYI: Guys the MX2 termal paste is great 5-10C down in temps on load))

So nobody knows what`s the AUX???
come on HELP ME
-
What do you mean by Aux temp?
Generally there is GPU and CPU temperature for a laptop, unless you also have temp sensor for the North Bridge. -
Dont know I have temp readings from everest5 and other software about
cup/core 1&2/ Chipset/RAM/GPU/ Gpu Enviorment/ AND THE F**** AUX ?????
AUX AFTER 20MIN gaming reaches 100C may be more
WOW a have a question that no NBR user can`t answer hehe I`m happy
PLS HELLLP -
My girlfirend throw my lappy @ the wall, and everything is OK can`t believe it.
Now I dont have a girlfrient but the XPS is still runing@ 100C-AUX
-
sesshomaru Suspended Disbelief!
Haven't used the 1530 much.. but I suspect it's the memory temp sensosr.. at least the 1330 reports one.. although it is nowhere near 100C..
-
10x 4 the reply but it is not the mem. Ram is detected separately from AUX ?????
-
Could it be the SSD HDD
-
I have the AUX showing as well! its always a little warmer then the GPU.. I would like to know what the AUX temp is. i'm using Hardware Monitor by CPU-Z.
Its not the SSD HDD since I don't have one in mine.. and I have a diffrent reading for my Hard driver about 40c but my AUX will hit the 80c mark.
I have a m1530 as well. -
Nobody knows ?????!?!?!?!?!?!!?!?!?!?!?
So many ueres)))

I searched around a little bit for your question, and came across another fourm's thread here:
http://forums.techpowerup.com/showthread.php?t=29627
This and a few other places I went to seem to suggest that your temp monitoring software is picking up a sensor that isn't really supported by your BIOS or isn't there and giving out a false positive. If your system seems stable and just fine with this AUX component at 100C and the rest of your temps are within spec, I'd say don't worry about it.
Sorry about your ex-gf throwing your 1530 against the wall. I'm glad it's still working just fine, though. -
10x I soppose so, but you never know. I will keep searching.
-
lol you do know! we have told you already
its surely a bug, since not everyone has that reading, and as i said, if it isnt affecting your system's performance, you shouldn't worry about it!
and dont you think it would have fried already if a component was reaching 100C on a daily basis? i mean c'mon
start enjoying rather than searching for an answer that you will probably not find... you could also ask dell about it, but knowing them they would probably ask you to re-install some driver... -
I also have Dell M1530 and it shows AUX temperature in HWMonitor Pro.
The value of that temp doesn't look like something out of a glitch. For my system it varies between 51 to 58 on an average. There are four temps showing up, CPU, DIMM, Aux and Chipset. So Aux is neither RAM nor Motherboard and all these show regular and valid changes while on load and idle.
I guess Aux is temp of a certain part which no one knows of as yet. So I guess its not important. But curiosity isn't bad. I will ask Dell about it. -
Usually AUX temp is referred to mosfets (voltage regulators)
UPDATE: ok pplz, i have found it. it's ISL6262 PWM core regulator. it has built-in temperature sensor. located under cpu's heat pipe.
little black block with 48 pins.
i have placed little copper plate on it, and tested with and without, difference in temperature 47C and 59C under same conditions.
so iam going to make a good cooling for it, like big piece of copper or something...
almost every computer that comes to me for repairing had fired pwm controller, so i recommend to make a conclusion -
This is the info in the Lavasys FAQ:
Q#18: What does the "Aux" temperature shown on the Computer / Sensor page mean?
A#18: There is no standard for sensor registers layout, so the "Aux" temperature could show the temperature of the CPU or the motherboard, or might be a non-connected wire of the sensor chip, and so it could show a bogus value.
Perhaps this is a bogus information.
