    What is the difference between i5 460m, 480m and 560m?

    yeah so am thinking about getting an xps 15... can someone tell me what the difference is with each of the processors?

    i think that the first batch were faulty or something but am not sure

    They're all basically the same. They just have slightly different clock speeds.

    460m = 2.53 GHz (boosts to 2.8)
    480m = 2.66 GHz (boosts to 2.9)
    560m = 2.66 GHz (boosts to 3.2)

    Maybe you're thinking of the sandy bridge problem, where the motherboards were faulty. All the sandy bridge names start with a 2 though. Those ones there are the 1st generation i series. They fixed the problem with sandy bridge now though.

    You might want to think about getting the newer xps 15, which has the sandy bridge processors + better graphics cards.

    As it's been stated, all those i5 are just higher clocked dual cores. It really is a marketing ploy, more "GHz" just normally using your computer doesn't equate to a performance gain.

    Only the initial launch of Sandy Bridge was affected, all the stuff being sold now has been fixed with B3 stepping.
