    Hi Guys

Not had my lappy long but just wanted to know what head room these cards have?

Current speeds below, just wanted to know what others had overclocked their's to with Rivatuner? Also the best application to monitor card temps too?

    Core Clock = 475
    Shader Clock = 950
    Memory Clock = 702

    Many thanks ;)

Do me a favour, dont oc this card. Its already unstable and hot as it is, who knows what overclocking could do to it.

Oh nothing crazy like a case hack or something, I just have it sitting on a cooling pad I made a while back.
It's cool for gaming (freezes the laptop :)) but thats all I use it for really (It's very quiet but freezes the room too!)

While on this topic anybody know if theres a program that will allow greater overclocking than rivatuner does?

Got mine up to 700/1035/1400 which got me 5659 3dmark06 points at a 1440x900 resolution. Started artefacting after that...

It reached a temp. of 82C and the cooling method i use is raising the back by propping it up with a cd case.

As you can see from the pic my specs are:

    M1530 Crimson Red
    T7250 @ 2GHz (undervolted to 1.00V)
    4GB
    250GB
    8600M GT 256MB GDDR3

mirage_bg, what ratios did you use when overclocking your card?

just wondering cos the shader clock looks really high compared to what i had mines set at? im not trying to say im right here by the way, i just used the same ratio for all my clocks hence mine is clocked lower than yours...

BTW the 8600M GT is awesome to OC lol

Oh yeah and in 3dmark06, what CPU score do you get?

The cards a good overclocker but not that good, thats three times stock speed.

    Wow Those are fast..... wow!

Anyways I personally use HWmonitor (yeah I know it's a different GPU)

Somewhere there is a thread that the other monitor threw off wrong temps

I mean to say how do you determine the amounts you increase each value each time?

I work mine out as a percentage for example:

    700/475 = 147.4%
    so 147.4% of 702 gives 1035
    and 147.4% of 950 gives 1400

so they are all the same percentage greater than their original value if you see what i mean?

So i am asking, by how much did you increase each value each time during testing your OC?

Not quite sure where you're going with the maths there, I think what people are wondering about is the speed you appear to have your memory at in your sig 730/1460/2100 thats where the discrepancies lie,

1460 would be right for a shader clock, with a core clock of 730, but 2100mhz just doesn't make sense for memory.

Lol I'm still confused as to how people are getting passed 715mhz on the memory as Rivatuner won't allow me past 715mhz?

    Are people using different drivers?

May buy a cooling pad for £20 moving forward

When you guys are reporting your clock speeds, are you reporting the clocks that you set it at? or the speeds shown by rivatuner's hardware monitoring?

My set clock speeds for my 8600M DDR3

    600/1200/901

clock speeds reported by rivatuner's hardware monitoring (which I'm guessing is actual clock speeds)

    648/1296/900

3dmark06 score is around 5350 at 1280X1024 resolution using Nvidia beta drivers 180.42. Max gaming temp is usually around 77-78 using NZXT cryo.

I'd like to know the above too, seems to be conflicting info on what peoples cards are set to?

EDIT: GaryPham have you got a link to where you get the beta's mate? I can't see them on the Nvidia site? :)

Yes I think you're right, most people are posting rivatuner's monitored clock speed, not the one they set.

Nb I've used other overclocking software and hardware monitors and they report the higher speed too, so there must be a discrepancie in what you ask rivatuner to set and what it actually sets (as in it actually sets a higher speed)

I use the nvidia control panel to set mine, and when i click system properties, it shows the card to be running at the exact clocks i have set.

I dont know wether these values are correct or not... guess i could download rivatuner and have a look.

Does anyone else use the Nvidia control panel? is it accurate with its readings?

Also i tried to use ATItool to test the max values for my cores etc. but i cant seem to get it to work atall lol. any ideas with that?

I do that and GPU-Z and the nividia monitor both report the same thing, so I'm assuming it's right.

by the way, nrguser, completely out of the blue, is the nrg you are referring to a piece of engineering software?

We had this software at my previous job it was tremendously temperamental...

The memory is set to 1050MHz what means efficiency 2100 because of DDR- that I meant, if the memory was SDR, then 100Mhz are 100Mhz, but in Double Data Rate memory (DDR)- 100Mhz=efficien 200MHz, 700Mhz=efficien 1400Mhz, 1050Mhz= efficien 2100Mhz, thats the difference with Single Data Rate memory (very outdated yet) SDR. Clear?

Ok cool, but for the record, all dell xps 1530's are shipped with 256mb GDDR3 with stock 700mhz ram, Its taken as a given that its ddr, so if you were to compare yours with all other posts on ram speed yours would be 1050mhz.

Its a custom made laptop cooler, took a 22cm akasa case fan, roped in a psu 12cm fan under the 1530's fan intake and hooked it up to a power supply. Overall it works quite nicely, its pretty quiet and it keeps the laptop cold, COLD!!

Ah no, but the temps do kind of speak for themselves, with the max overclock I can get, and say running 3dmark over and over, it only hits low 60's for the gpu and mid
40's for the cpu, So I'm pretty happy with it.

I tried initially to run it on usb with only one fan,but it was useless due to the low power of the usb, so I decided instead to run lots of fans off a dc trasformer I had lying around.
