BTW i still havent got the laptop.....my bro will bring it for me next month

yes you can at least play Starcraft 2 on high settings at a resolution of 1600x900. I didn't realize that the Studio XPS 16 was available in some regions with 1400x900...

sorry abt the info....its actually is 1600x900....
will i be able to run these games at high details:
crysis and crysis warhead
farcry 2
s.t.a.l.k.e.r all versions
the witcher
supreme commander
gears of war
fallout -
I played fallout 3, assassin creed 1&2, crysis warhead, mass effect 1 & 2, prince of persisa, CoD WaW & MW2, gta IV... I had problems with gta IV, it wouldn't work unless your settings are mostly low. I played crysis warheard on 1920x1080 with everything between gamer and enthusiast, game lagged a little bit but that didn't bother me

if i play at say 1600x900 or a lower resolution, can i run all games at maximum resolution?
-
That said, the XPS16 is more of a all-around laptop that's gaming capable, but not necessarily a dedicated gaming machine. If you want something solely for gaming, and weight, heat, size, battery life, etc aren't important, then maybe the ASUS G73 would be a better choice for you. -
Brendanmurphy Your Worst Nightmare
I Run Starcraft 2 at 1600 x 900 Ultra settings, Shadows medium, Reflections off and FPS locked at 30 fps and never dips. The 1645 is a screamer for a non gaming laptop

thanks a lot everyone
-
i've been playing Metro 2033 @ 1280x720 with all DirectX 11 settings on medium. runs smooth most of the time (maybe 20-40+fps ?), except for a few parts where there's a ton of smoke or open areas with lots of movement.

does the laptop still throttle?
my brother bought it a week ago in the us...
will i get a 130w adapter? -
i do not throttle, after 1 hour of playing (i don't play for extended periods, maybe 2 hours max)
yes, it should come with the 130W adapter. all 1645's come with the 130W adapter now. if not, you can contact Dell and request they send you one. -
You can expect a smiliar performance as I get. Maybe a few games that require a fast CPU will run better, but there are not a lot out there requiring that.
-
@chrusti:
What games do you play generally and what fps do you get? -
I play a lot of Armed Assault lately, with the viewing distance set to 5000 and most settings at high except for shadows and anti aliasing it runs around 30fps most of the time.
Call of duty modern warfarer 2 runs fine at everything at max and two times anti aliasing.
Fallout 3 runs around 60FPS inside and around 30FPS outside - with high to medium settings and without anti aliasing.
Doom 3 runs around 50FPS witheverything to max and 8 times anti aliasing.
Far Cry 2 runs around 30FPS with everything to high, shadows medium and without antialiasing.
If you want better performance, or if you will play at higher resolutions than 1600x900 - keep in mind that you will need a better videocard.
Cheers -
i wont play at higher than 1600x900.....
i might even play at 1366x768.....as long it is widescreen and fills the entire display.
What performance can i expect
