I was just wondering, what power setting do you all run your computers on? Balanced, power saver, or high performance? Is there a benefit to running balanced? Also, do any of you have custom power settings such as the ones dell offers, if so how do those work for you?
Thanks!

I have my own custom one that I put to my likings. Basically I have it so when I'm plugged into A/C Power, my laptop operates at 100%, and no sleep/hibernate/etc. On battery I have it so it turns off the screen in 5 minutes, standby in 10 min, as well as having the CPU downclock a lot. I like this because when I'm on battery it lasts longer, and when I'm plugged in I get all the power I need.

(You could Prolly have a Mod help you do that if you still wanted!)
I usually use Balanced..But sometimes I switch to High Performance..depending on what I'm working on or doing at that time
I like to save on my battery usage!
I have the XPS 1530 BTW..I use the the 6 cell and 9 cell battery!

And they should be able to complete it for you!
The report button is the little Red Triangle button next to the *Rep* button on the lower left hand corner (of the 3 lower icons to the right)

Have a read at this, might be an interesting read. -

Oh wow, a pole. None of the above for me. I sent you my custom settings per request to your message box.

High Performance while plugged in, but Multimedia sharing set to "allow the computer to sleep" so that the 1640 can be put to sleep.

Dell Recommend (with a little tweak) on AC, and Power saver on battery (ofcourse)

RMClock Power Management

It just lets RMclock completely take over the power and CPU management.

What power setting do you run on?
