What sound settings are you guys using. Please share, because people said it sounds horrible out of the box without configuring it. So please tell me how and what settings you guys are using.

    Thanks you

I know many true sound people dislike it- but I'm using the defaults with Soundblaster installed and SRS Premium.

Do you mean X-Fi MB & SRS HD Audio Lab combined?

Hmm, not sure what the Audio Lap is- I meant the 'SRS Premium enabled' preset in the IDT Control Panel- and yes, the X-Fi MB with the software that came on the CD. Although I'm sure different versions of the laptop and/or different regions get slightly different stuff.

Not to hi-jack, but is the creative software worth it?

Hmm, the creative stuff came with the 1645's as well... since I didn't know better, I purchased it, thinking it was actually a better soundcard... sadly it is just software stuff that I really dislike. So for me it was $25 wasted (or however much it costs).

To the original poster's questions, I disable all sound enhancements. The only reason I keep the IDT audio stuff installed is because it has the beam forming options to make use of the array microphones and dampen incoming sound that isn't sourced from directly infront of the laptop (ie, where one would be sitting). Makes VOIP stuff (skype, etc) much better for the person on the other end if you have a noisy environment.
