So I have had 4 blue screens incl. one since I updated to the new ATI 3670 drivers. Flashed ...well everything. In every respect my Studio xps 16 runs perfect. But about every ten days I receive this yellow yield sign fron Vista that my video card (does not name it) has stopped and is attempting to reconnect to Vista? It then states that the "card" has failed and I get the blue screen. It auto reboots and all is fine for another 1o or so days??
I have the card on maximum power save when plugged in. All I use it for, and the only unifying factor so far , is my Dell E0922 monitor running alongside it via the hdmi port.
Dell advises me to wait for one more bs. I have decided to throw some game demos @ it and see if I can reproduce the fault. So far no go. I am one week past the return for credit. My option is to return to depot for service. Please!!!
I really need some fellow xps users feedback here. Anyone else had this happen with Vista 64 premium? Or the card? What are your experiances with return to depot fixes?
Thank you so much if you respond or @ least consider my problem.

    Regards,
    J

Well, that might be the problem. Have you tried rolling back to an older driver version?

I thought it was soldered to the mobo. How would one go about doing this? Pop the bottom and readjust the card? If so is there an ideal sitting location for it? As for temps I have the laptop placed on an upward sitting milk crate. Lots of air flow. I never have it on my lap or mobile for that matter. Docked and connected to other monitors.

All that being said .No I have not checked my temps. Is there an app for this inn the post or bios? Btw-I have it on max battery settings and do not play pc games.

    Thanks for replying,
    J

3 of the blue screens occurred before the update. That's what brought me to calling Dell. Who did what I was going to do and up dated the drivers and Catalyst.
