    Hello,
I am a Engineering student & I want to buy XPS 15 for CAD (Pro/Engineer), watching movies, playing medium scale games (NFS), reading e-books, etc.
I am thinking of buying it in India from the DELL website.
Intel is launching Ivy Bridge Processors in March (probably only in US).
When will this be available in XPS in India? (plz answer from past experiences)
Should I buy the laptop now or should I wait till Ivy in XPS is launched in US ?, because I expect the price of Sandy Bridge in India to fall after this launch.
I am not interested in Ivy, rather in low cost Sandy Bridge ;)
Hoping for an Helpful reply
    Thank You.

The best would be if you can catch one of the deals from the outlet when there are 20%~25% coupons.

They can be had for way less than buying new.

@Ryan, sorry about replying so late.
There is no coupon system in India.
Can you please guide me further on my doubts?

But you can still bargain with dell sale representative ask for discount at-least you will get 5-7 % discount, but it will better if you prefer to buy from US, because in US it's cheap as compare to India.

@panduhsaur & @nightmare I am concerned about the warranty in India if I buy it from US.
Will the warranty be valid in India if I buy it from US?
Even if I still buy it from US my querry is regarding the time of buying the laptop.
I am not interested in Ivy Bridge.
So when should I buy the Sandy Bridge one with minimum price?
(I was hoping this i.e. price drop of SB, would happen when Ivy is released).

1- Yes, you will get the warranty in India, it doesn't matter where you purchase from, just transfer your ownership by filling a form which is available in Dell website.

2- The Ivy Bridge is launching in Q1 2012 probably mid of March. I'm not when Dell is going to drop there price because they replace there whole series with Ivy bridge after some time. But Dell outlet will be reduce the price if they have old stock of Sandy Bridge.

No announcement from Dell at CES, my uneducated guess is that they will just filter in an L503x with the Ivy Bridge upgrade and a few minor cosmetic upgrades around April/May.

I suspect most of their development resource has been invested in the Ultrabooks and other slimline laptops. Chunky workstations like the XPS seem to be out of fashion if the tech press are to be believed.

That said, if this forum and some of the UK bargain hunting sites are anything to go by, there is still plenty of demand for the traditional XPS.
