To everyone who owns/owned an M1530:
When was the last time you had your mobo/gpu/heatsink/fans replaced because of overheating? Dell is claiming to have "fixed" it by putting in new chipsets. So now I want to see when this "fix" occurred.
Thanks

When i got a system replacement to a sxps 16xx
-
Right. But when did you get the replacement? And if you had your mobo/gpu replaced before that, when did that happen? The month would be good enough

No, I have both still...used the 1530 last weekend running a Powerpoint presentation for 4 hours non stop and no issues with heat. I haven't gamed on it in a while mind you but for what I am using it for it works fine. That model just like the current xps 16 is hit and miss as far as problems go...My current 1647 ..see specs is running great..

2days ago, 6cell battery - pluggen in, not charging. 13% of energy left. When i discharge it completely, after that it will charge to 13% and stop. I have already contacted Dell, so next week they will change my battery or AC, or either motherboard.

Knock on wood, i'm still on my M1530 with the 8400 card, only repair work I had done was a optical drive replacement.
Ordered it dec 2008/january 2009
*knocks on wood* -
Man i miss owning a m1530 with the 8600gt that thing ran arkham asylum with desktop drivers 1280x720 at 6o fps lol. Other games also, i never had a single issue with the gpu just the blu ray drive failed once.

2 and a half years of gaming on this laptop.
Never had any kind of issue with cpu/mobo/gpu and heat.
Still enjoying and loving it. -
yeah...you don't hear enough of the satisfied owners of that model....
given the large number of pcs Dell pumps out... -
You don't hear enough of the satisfied owners of the M1530 because the satisfied owners don't come here and post about it.
However, people with problems will come here and post to find solutions and to discuss with other people with issues on that model.
Anyway, faulty M1530's are not more than 20-30% of all that have been sold (my guess). Those people will come here and complain / look for solutions while the other 70-80% will just enjoy it -
@ Kilador: Your gpu runs at 78c after being overclocked? Lucky. Mine hits the mid 70s on idle.
-
Yep, never goes above 80º (in summer hottests days here in Spain).
I keep my fan undusted and use a notebook cooler. -
Ahh. That's good. I'm still in winter/spring with temps of about 65f. I wonder how bad it will get when the temperatures hit the mid to high 80s.

I've had mine since August '08 and only had issues once playing Demigod about a year ago. I'm not sure if it was really a heat problem or just software causing the crash, however. Because I like to use my computer on the couch and to prolong its life, I got a CoolerMaster Notepal Infinite cooling pad-- a great investment in my opinion. It fits very well with the shape of the m1530 and the black and silver one also goes very well aesthetically with the Tuxedo Black exterior.

I had my last motherboard replacement in late January/early February. Before that, it was early December.
-
Today my problem with battery charging was resolved. Dell replaced my battery with a new one. No problems so far..
When was your last M1530 issue?
