Dell offered the Studio 14 or XPS 14(in 1458 configuration) to replace a M1330. Is this a good replacement or is the Studio 13 better? I like the first configuration with the Nvidia Optimus but worried it will cause heat issues as the 8400m GS destroyed about 5 motherboards. I will be using the laptop primarily for editing large RAW format photos in Adobe Lightroom.

is config 1 a xps 14? I didnt think any of the studios had the nvidia 420m
-
I just looked and the configurations are Studio 14 and XPS 14. Dell just stated the laptops will be configured as Studio 1458.
What is the difference between Studio 14 and XPS 14? Is the XPS 14 called Studio XPS 14?
-
Take the xps 14. You have three tiers with dell:
1. inspiron - budget basement
2. studio - mid range
3. xps or studio xps multimedia premium line.
You will find the build quality much better, it has a metal chasis, plus the 420m is a way better gfx card than an ati 5450 -
Thanks. I went with the XPS 14. Hope it lives. The M1330 had 9 lives thanks to the motherboard replacements.
Which Studio 14 configuration should I get?
