Hi there. I don't know what bag would be better for my (upcoming) XPS M1530.

I have thought about these 3:

    http://catalog.belkin.com/IWCatProductPage.process?Product_Id=375643

    http://catalog.belkin.com/IWCatProductPage.process?Product_Id=399512

    http://catalog.belkin.com/IWCatProductPage.process?Product_Id=399046

But I don't know which one I should pick. I guess the "messenger" type is... it would be too obvious that there's a laptop inside.

Can't decide between the sling bag and the back pack . I have never used sling bags really, so I don't know.

What do you think? Which one should I buy? Maybe a diferent one? (not belkin?

I would go for the "Slim Back Pack".

That's what I was thinking , but I can only find the "Sling Bag" in my country (30€) but I don't know because I've never used a "1 strap bag" before

I don't like those designs and they are too expensive!

in my experience, back packs are way more comfortable than messenger bags due to the weight.

not so sure about sling bags.

If you don't want it to look like there is a laptop in it, Swiss army makes laptop bags that look like regular backpacks some one would take to school.

I would go for the back pack simply because it is much more comfortable than a messenger bag or sling bag. The weight is much more distributed. The m1530 is not a light machine, you'll want that comfort in the long run.

I bought a Dickies laptop backpack that looks like a plain jane, black, backpack . I paid $30 from Best Buy.

I use my the north face "recon" backpack to carry around my m1330. Its over 4 years old but is still has a nice laptop section that works perfectly. It might be kinda a tight fit for a m1530 though.

I searched high and low for the PERFECT bag for the 1530. I checked out the local Oakley store and liked what I saw...but they were a little over the top for my liking (in terms of styling).
I wound up getting the Incase Sling Bag. It's super soft and plush inside, with some cool features like a dedicated ipod pocket on the hip. It's super comfortable too.

I also have a Burton Snowboard Laptop Backpack which is great...but it's camo pattern stands out a little too much when I'm in work attire :p

    Wow, it's very cool but... 90$ :(

Actually I already "have" a Bag for my "upcoming XPS M1530", I use " because the backpack will come with my laptop, next tuesday hopefully, but I picked the "Targus Campus XL" for 17"... and the XPS is only 15.4 and I think it will be too big and with lots of extra packages, so I would prefer something slim (like the belkin slim backpack / sling bag).

I don't know... I can't find the (Belkin) backpack on eBay (30€ shipping included for the Sling Bag, but I am not sure if it will be comfortable for me...)

    Any other opiniones/suggestions? Thanks

Thanks, it looks great. Unfortunately, I can't find it on eBay (and I don't know if I can order it directly from their website) What's its price range?

BTW, I am from Spain so it would be better if I could buy it from Europe.

Thanks, I am also looking for other options :)

Has anyone bought or tested the Logitech Kinetik Backpack?
I can buy one for 60$. I've read it's quite "big", is this true? Do you think the backpack is more "stealable" because of its looks?

According to this image http://www.logitech.com/repository/511/jpg/4327.1.0.jpg it seems to be big, yes :p (Well, I haven't seen any laptop backpack in person, but I guess it's "big", not too big though, it would work for me, but it's too expensive, as everything from logitech).

Yes, but I'll be using it for school too, so I'll be needing that extra space. The reason why I ask this, is because I read that you could hurt people with this bag. I found this a bit strange ...

They are idd quite expensive, but I want to best for my lovely laptop ^^

Where can you buy it for 60$? (BE stands for Belgium?)

Maybe it is worth the try

I have the Targus Campus XL with my XPS M1530, a good choice (both).

It is a perfect size to take the M1530 inside the slip case that came with the laptop, and seems to offer good protection. Not too big, but ample space for books, a bit of shopping or whatever else you need.

I don't think this is a standard Targus model, the XL is maybe made specially for Dell as the only product information I could find was on the Dell site. The standard Campus would be too small.

I like Targus from earlier experience, and I finally decided to buy this one as it was a recommended Dell option against the XPS M1530 that I had ordered two weeks earlier.

I reckon you may already have what you want!

    Yes, BE stands for Belgium.
I can get it at a small ICT shop for that price. Just browse the Internet, you might find a cheap one in your country too ...

Anyway, when you receive it, please post some pictures and impressions :D

EDIT: Wow! just found it for 34€ plus shipping (9€ ;)!! If they shipped to mi city (I live in Africa) I'd totally go for the Kinetik!

OK, got the Kinetik Backpack yesterday and I'm satisfied.
The bag has a lot of storage place and padding to protect your laptop. When loaded, the bag still feels comfortable (I always have a sore shoulder when using a messenger bag). It also has a "shoulder-to-shoulder" strap to improve comfort. The bag is big, but not huge. I compared it with a Samsonite backback and both were equally big.

Con's at this moment: the zippers do not "zip" really smoothly and it's easy to scratch the exo-shell.

The bag is definately worth 60$ or less, but not 100$ ...

My XPS M1530 fits very well and secure in the bag. It's a bit thighter with the sleeve though.

Did you take the pictures? I received my XPS M1530 and the Targus Campus XL backpack and I don't really like it... I'm trying to sell it and buy a... "smaller" backpack. Is it too big?

BTW, here are some crappy pics taken with my cellphone of the "Targus Campus XL" I bought with my XPS M1530.

I don't really like it... It has a lot of storage but... it's ugly and not very comfortable (and strangely looking, I can't imagine wearing it...)

I can't compare because it's my first laptop, so it's my first laptop backpack... but I guess the Logitech Kinetik or the Belkin Slim Backpack will be better choices.

Please help me decide betwenn these 2 :p

    Thanks

I'm choosing a laptop bag for my M1530 as well (should be here in two days), and I was thinking of choosing between the Logitech Kinetik and the Belkin Slim Backpack as well.

The Kinetic looks like it'd be great, but it seems too pricy for me. The Slim is much cheaper, but I'm not sure if it is as roomy as the Kinetik. Can anyone give any input they have on these laptop bags?

Yes, I'd also like some opinions about this :) I don't want it to big neither too big nor too smal. I have found the Belkin for around 25€ and the logitech kinetik for around 35-40€ (both plus shipping).

My apologies for the late reply, I've been quite busy lately. I will take some pictures this evening (I'm at work atm). Do you need pictures of something specific?

Today was the first day of use for my backpack by the way. I loaded it with my laptop, adapter, mouse, some booklets, ... Even loaded, it still feels comfortable and light. It isn't as big as some reviewers say either. It looks pretty cool btw. The only thing I need now, is a Batman suit :D

I didn't really like the Targus either. It looks more like a camping backpack than a laptop backpack imo.

Thanks! Looking at your pictures it looks like a great option, but with that "random pic in google" it seems to be very "wide" (I don't know the exact word, very long at the side).

What do you think? Is it comfortable? Is it too heavy? Does it look strange in your back??

    Thanks!

BTW: What was your final price in €?? I have been able to find it at... 39€ plus shipping, Around 48€ :( Do they ship internationally where you bought it?

I bought it at 59€ and I'm happy with it.
The backpack is idd wider than a normal backpack, but it's not huge. For me, it is comfortable and light.

If I were you, I would visit a store where they sell one and try it :)

Unfortunately I live in a small (Spanish) city in Africa and we don't have many stores here (we don't even have a shopping centre). I usually have to buy anything without trying it first, so I need to be sure about it :p

I will think about it for a few days and then I'll decide (I would need to get rid of my Targus Campus XL... Anyone interested in buying it? :D )
