My m1330 has been running rather hot, especially at the palm rest area. Running the fan at full speed does not help much either.

Anyone know of any notebook cooler suitable for the m1330? And, that will cool the palm rest area as well?

I've ruled out Zalman as it's too expensive here. What about the Cooler Master Notepal Infinite? Is it suitable?

Right. I did that, runs better. Although GPU still gets pretty hot...

Anyways, I'm going for the first one you said in the post. It's only 59$ usd.. and its worth it.

Same here. No change to GPU. On normal fan speed, the palm rest area gets just as hot. But in full fan speed, the left and right palm rest area do get noticeably cooler, though the centre touchpad area feels warm.

And the underside of the laptop still feels hot, especially under the touchpad. What's in there? GPU? Any notebook coolers which can cool that area efficiently?

Btw.. Here where I am, it costs around US$68!! I converted it to US currency of cuz.

I bought the Zalman for my 1520. The smalle rone not the bigger one and it's only 50 bucks off dell.com I think. It's not that bad and it works really well. For a 1330 it definitely fits and will do it's job, for my 1520, it's a little smaller but I wanted it a little smaller rather than a little bigger.

    a few stupid questions here:
    1. How do you control the fan speed?
    2. upgrading bios to A11? (what's that hardware or software-downloadable?)

The wireless mini pci-e card is right under the touchpad. I have the intel 3945abg card and it runs very hot too. I measured it using a temperature gun and it was near 60C.

I'm running the fan at full speed daily. Is that harmful for the fan?

And, will Cooler Master Infinite help to cool the laptop? especially the center front.

    chunkie,
    1. i think that will lower your fan's lifespan (if you kill your fan, it will kill your cpu and gpu
    2. will consume more battery
    3. its noisy

When I'm having to consider a third party purchase in order to keep a first party purchase from scolding my limbs, I would seriously consider getting my money back... not spending more of it!

Not least with the M1330, the one XPS out there that isn't even supposed to be on a desk, let alone a cooling unit.

I bought an Antec Notebook cooler for my m1330 and I'm happy with it so far. It fits the m1330 perfectly and is not too big. It was cheap, $5 after a rebate and it's design allows you to use it on your lap. I mainly got it to use on my lap to keep the laptop and my lap cool and it works great.

It's on sale right now at Frys.com. http://shop2.frys.com/product/4734159

The Zalman may cool better but it is much more expensive and looks like it wouldn't be possible to use on your lap.

Really a cooler isn't necessary and in general the m1330 stays really cool, or at least mine does. It is nice for extended use on your lap because any laptop will get hot if you have it on your lap for awhile.

I suggest Zalman NC 1000, Ive got a review of it on the m1530 and it'll be a even better fit for your 1330. It cost 54 after tax and shipping on amazon though.
