    Hello,

My Teac DVW28SLC DVD Drive in XPS M1530 has not been reading CDs/DVDs, keeps spitting out.

It seemed that pehaps the drive is toast. However, before replacing the drive, it was recommended to clean the lens of the existing dvd drive.

However, most the the cleaners I saw are not suitable for slot load drives. Some people have had issues with it.

Was wondering if anyone has had good experience with a lens cleaner for this drive.

    Thanks,

Well for start slot loaded drives will require you to take apart your laptop to get access to it and the lens. And then I would use a eyeglass cleaner solution with a fine 3M cleaning cloth gently wiping down the laser lens. That should remove most dust, and oil built up on the lens and should fix the read problem. And if not that would mean a dying laser and would most likely have to be replaced.
