As the thread title says, which make of ram should I go for as don't want to run in to compatibility issues. Secondly, I want the 6230 wifi card by intel with the bluetooth and dual band but cannot find one anywhere in the UK?
UK sites only please

1333MHZ DDR3 SODIMM. Kingston/Crucial is good.
I can't find that 6230 card in the UK. -
Hey guys,
I just bought a genuine 6230 card off eBay from a US seller for £20 delivered. It only took around 7 days to arrive.
Stay away from the engineering samples that are offered in the east...they have no MAC address. -
Tsunade_Hime such bacon. wow
RAM is RAM is RAM. Any DDR3 SODIMM modules should work, I wouldn't advise over 1333 as your laptop won't natively support it anyway (aka spending extra on 1600 is pointless as it will downclock to 1333).
You can get Intel WLAN cards from Ebay as above posted stated, and you don't have to buy a Dell one. Worst case scenario, you can get it from Dell.. -
Doesn't matter unless you're running an Extreme i7

However, when I bought mine 2 weeks ago there were at least half a dozen different sellers, all from the US, selling the genuine card and not the engineering samples you get from China. So I would just keep an eye on eBay every day....or perhaps buy from a US based spares company instead...I'm sure most would deliver to the UK for a few extra $$$/£££. -
I thought the engineering samples all had the same mac address rather than not having one at all. No mac address means it wouldn't work as a NIC at all?
They do come up on ebay UK, I got a 6300 a few weeks ago... -
I'm running 1866Mhz just fine on mine. Shows up in CPU-Z, BIOS, and all the other monitoring software.

Just took a punt on some ram and a USB 3.0 stick. Below is what I bought
2 X 8GB Crucial Ram
http://www.crucial.com/uk/store/list...S%2015&Cat=RAM
Kingston DataTraveler Ultimate G2 16gb USB 3.0
Up to 80MB/s Read and 60MB/s Write Speeds
http://www.ebuyer.com/267818-kingsto...o-dtu30g2-16gb
The write speeds looked pretty good, no idea what it will be like in practice! -

Most RAM chips are actually only made by a few manufacturers, then there are many brands that take those chips and make the boards. In reality, probably not much of a difference, but I stick with Crucial normally. Corsair has been good to me as well, as has Mushkin.
Crucial is one of the few that actually makes the RAM chips as well as the boards (well, Micron makes them, but Crucial is a sub-company of Micron). -

I've already posted proof that it does work above 1333Mhz. Even when I had the i5-2410M it still showed as 1600MHz/1866MHz.
-
Many people have tried to use HyperX and other 1600-1866 RAM. A COUPLE have had success, most of the ones have had it down-rated to 1333 MHz that I have seen on here. Villosa is apparently one of the lucky ones.

I'm using the PnP kits if that makes a difference. Starting to think it might?

Oh and for RAM just get any non bulk-bin DDR3 SODIMM 1333MHz modules. I got a G-Skill 4GB module for like $35 and it works great. -
I used to have connection problems for 2.4 ghz networks with my 6230 but I resolved it by reseating the card.
In any case, the 1030, 6205, 6230, and 6150 are recently introduced cards so expect some problems using them for now. -
Hi all,
If you are still looking for a genuine 6230 card, here is a current eBay auction with several available.
UPDATE: These are NOT engineering samples.
Cheers
