Which one is better? and how much do you think the M1710 is worth in comparison to the my 1720? Should i keep the M1710??

Personally I’d go for the XPS for its looks (+light effects etc..), quality and gfx card. G71 stands for Go7900 series (GS to GTX). If you are getting a 7900GS then it will be almost similar to 8600GT (but lacks DX10 support), but on the other hand a GT/GTX is much faster than a 8600GT.
However you’ll lose Santa Rosa platform, but since you are getting same speed processor, the difference is negligible.
Price of M1710 is higher than the inspiron because of the XPS brand (considered as a premium gaming notebook) -
it seems really weird to me that dell would do a replacement with a much more expensive machine. Why would they do this... they would be losing more money in this situation.
I really like the midnight blue 1720s....but they are so hard to get that unless you purchases in late june, early july you wont have a chance of getting it soon.
"humph" i really don't know what to do...i don't want the xps ( i don't much like the look and the midnight blue 1720 i can't have) Life really makes things difficult -

they probably dont want to run the risk of producing another defective 1720 and they are probably replacing the M1710 with the 1730 so they want to get rid of their stock of 1710.
If you dont want it call them, or get it and sell it -
I think they are merely pushing out old 1710s just because not many people are buying that.... Also yes you would lose the Santa Rosa platform and that 800 Mhz FSB.... Not only that you will be getting Xp instead of Vista with a XPS... But the 7900 is more powerful than the 8600 except for the lack of DX10... Eventhough costwise though you are lucky satisfaction wise that is not what you were looking for right ?

How much would a system like the M1710 fetch on ebay? It seems it hovering around $1400-1800 am i right? -

Oh no!! The M1710 just came in today. And it is a refurb. I am really upset now.
My I9300 breaks down send me a new I1720 and that has the keyboard damaged and now the replacement for the 1720 is a M1720 that is a refurb. I mean what the hell is going on, why can't they get stuff straight.
I suppose i will have to waste another 3 hrs explaining to situation to many diff Crs -
maybe is a brand new refurbished
-
OMG, i just called customer care and they said they are not sure why this M1710 was sent out as a replacement but that was only what was available.
Now i said, well, why was it refurbished when my Inspiron 1720 was new, she said all replacements are refurbished. and if she takes back the XPS 1710 the next one they send out has no gurantee that it will be a Inspiron 1720 either, and it will most likly be a refurb aswell. Now this plain sucks... Why on earth would anyone buy warranty on their NEW machine if they are going to be replaced with a Refurb machine? It does NOT make any sense.
She said it was written int eh warranty, when i bought it. I don't have that paperwork, but i find it bad practice to charge an arm and a leg for warranty and then provide rehashed systems as replacements. Very unprofessional in my opinion.
Im trying to see if i can sell this XPS 1710 on ebay and get some money back so i can order myself a notebook that i want, rather than being thrown what ever scraps they have left at the factory. I am very disappointed in dell. -
Other than being refurbished, are there any problems with the M1710?
-
-
Pretty nice 1720 replacement ya got there!
-
i would keep the m1710 if i were you, even if it is refurb.it is in perfect condition, right?and irish james, you speak no lies!
Which one is better 1720 or M1710 ?
