    Hi,

I want to replace my thermal pads for my l502x laptop. The RED one in the photo is the one which is broken and I need to replace it. But I don't know exactly which is the thickness needed (0.5mm, 1mm or 1.5mm). I've searched on the service manual and there is no information about it.

Also, I don't know which is the diference between the thermal pads marked as RED and the ones marked as GREEN

    Thanks

Dell probably just ran out of 1 kind of thermal pad and used a different kind for the others. 1 at the top in red looks to be a thermal paste mesh type and the bottom ones look to be a silicon pad. You will need to measure the uncompressed pads to determine which size you need. Judging from your pic though I'd guess either 1.0 or 1.5mm...

Also little tip, add a small amount of thermal paste between both surfaces of the thermal pads, it will help with additional thermal transfer!

    Thanks.

Well, I want to only change the one which is over the chipset (the red one) since it has been damaged.
