I just ordered an M1330 today with Dell India...hopefully sans all the problems i have been reading about...but up until yesterday i had the black in mind..and had placed the order for the black today..but incidentally i had happened to ask the Dell representative yesterday whether the white was available, and he said he was not aware of a white ever being available in India.

But today about 2 hrs after confirming my order for the black..i received a phone call from the representative saying that he has just received an update and that the white is available now. When i confirmed to him to change my order to the white, i was surprised to be informed that the total cost of my computer had also gone down by approx 150 USD because of the change.. :)

So it seems that Dell is offering the white again for the M1330

Not in the US, in Home, anyways. It states in the configurator that White is no longer an option.

Wow, I just checked out the India dell site and they do have white for the M1330 in the options. But for some old reason they call is "Alpine White" there. Weird.

I checked it too - they seem to be updating things on a daily basis.

A few days back, the palmrest was a INR 1200 (US$ 30) option and a day later it became a INR 2800 (US $ 70) option.
Suddenly, the palmrest is no longer even available as an option as of yesterday.

Coming to the screen - it's even more puzzling. To start with, only red and black were available, with a choice of WLED or CCFL - the price difference between the two was INR 5500 (US$ 138). Then suddenly the price difference shot up to INR 11500 (US$ 290). As of yesterday, the White CCFL lid is INR 5857 more than the other two CCFL lids (that's a huge premium).

And the Alpine White WLED is available at no extra cost?
The other two WLEDs (Red and Black) are INR 11662 extra.
There's something very stange going on. (Check out the screenshot I took today at the Dell India website.)

I wonder if this is the same finish as the pearlescent white XPS or the same finish as the Alpine white that is used on the Inspiron models. One looks kind of glossy and the one used on the Inspirion models looks more kind of matt to me.
It could well be the same finish though that was used on the pearlescent XPS as before when i was expecting my laptop i enquired to what was holding it up and i was told that they were waiting for the lid and it was described as alpine white in the part number.
    Short Part Number : CM742 Description : ASSY,CVR,LCD,ALP-WHT,MAG,M1330
It is good if they are bringing this back.

    Edited to add

    And on the XPS M1330
    http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=169314&highlight=WHITE+XPS+M1330

Dell posted this when the pearl white was discontinued.
Who knows what they are doing now?

I like how they are now putting "Date is estimate only and SUBJECT TO DELAYS".
