Why does HWmonitor act up when I use my Zalmannc2000 on my xps16?

When I use the Zalmannc2000, once every minute, according to the temperature monitor, the cpu's go up by like 20 degrees to around 62ish(and then get back down). Also, it sometimes shows that the idle and webbrowsing temperature in higher when using the zalman. Is the temperature monitor faulty or is it that the zalman uses a lot of power, hence causing the cpu to heat more(which would suck and be completely counter-productive)?

    thanks
