When only one works at a time?

I tried to watch a movie with a friend yesterday, and we had to share a single pair of headphones.

Why have two headphone jacks? Am I missing something?

How do I get both headphone jacks to be active at once?

With the track record of this computer, I wouldn't be surprised if it was something wrong. 1 screen, two keyboards, a palm rest, and a DVD drive have been replaced already... all within a month.

It has two headphone jacks to support 5.1 configurations. You can definitely have both jacks active, to share with your friends. Go to the Win Control Panel and find the IDT Audio Control Panel, from there you can specify what it is connected to each jack. I think that the cause of your problem is that the jack auto-detection feature probably thinks that you connected a 5.1 system or something.

I don't have an IDT Audio Control Panel. I tried going to the Creative Audio Control Panel, and got an error message saying that I didn't have that application, and that it would now exit.

Which audio driver are you using? The IDT driver comes by default unless it was disabled or the default windows driver is used.

Anyway, double check about the IDT Control Panel, make sure that all icons are shown or you can try searching for "IDT" when you click the windows logo on the left.

You can find the latest audio driver at:

Redownloaded the IDT control panel. I'll see if it fixed it tomorrow.

    Thanks!
