I just recently ordered a Dell Studio XPS 1640 and the weather, like the rest of the US nation, is HOT! Stupid question, but is a BIG concern to me, when the laptop is on the delivery truck with FedEx and the truck is out and about, will the high 90's to almost 103 degress cause the laptop (components, display, etc...) to become more prone to being defective than if it was in the delivery truck in 70's degree weather?

Can the restore/media discs warp in this weather even though it is in the box packaging?

Sorry to ask, it's just I usually return stuff I order if it is delivered hot because I tend to think it wont work, I have bad OCD (Obsessive Compulsive Disorder).

Short answer: No, it will not affect your computer.

Okay, I would just think that the laptop inside of the packaging box with the plastic discs would start to desoder(sp?) and the discs will warp.

The specifications state the laptop can only take so much heat for storage conditions and being on the truck in HOT weather can cause problems if it goes above the highest rated temperature.

The heat will simply not be an issue. They are insulated pretty well, and they aren't on the trucks for *that* long.

You stuff gets a lot hotter when in use than it will off in travel. Its electronics and stuff it can handle the heat just fine.

Also the delivery truck wont be stationary all the time either so it'll be cooled by air :)

And those figures are because of the plastics would become pliable, not because of the electronics.
