The minimum spec for C&C 3, according to the official site, is as follows,

    Intel P4 2.2 GHz / AMD Athlon 2200+
    1 GB of RAM
NVIDIA GeForce 6100+ / ATI Radeon 9500+ video card
(Note: At the time of release, Windows Vista is not compatible with ATI-based video cards with Radeon 9250 chipsets and below, in addition to NVIDIA-based video cards with GeForce 5000 series chipsets and below. ATI Radeon 9200 and 9250 PCI and NVIDIA GeForce 4 MX cards not supported. By extension, the game is not compatible with these chipsets on Windows Vista machines.)
    DirectX 9.0c compatible sound card
(Note: For Creative Sound Blaster Audigy cards running under Windows Vista, Intel P4 2.6 GHz CPU or equivalent, or multi-core CPU, required)
    8X or faster DVD-ROM drive
6 GB of free hard drive space
For Multiplayer games: 2 to 8 players with optional voice support, network or Internet connection required (Cable, DSL, or faster connection)

Bearing the above in mind and seeing my spec for my laptop in my signature below, will it play on my laptop??
(and will it play well or pants?)

    Thanks

It'll play very well on the geforce go you have.

    Excellent :D

At £11 plus free P&P it seems like a bargain.

(I was worried about my CPU looking at the CPU spec in the requirements above)

The games visuals aren't that impressive, so its not unexpected that it runs very well.

But the CPU requirements say 2. 2 Ghz and my CPU is 2. 0Ghz.

Will that cause a slow down?

I don't think so, It runs on my laptop on battery, in power saver mode easily.
It really isn't that taxing on your laptop.

what if I tell you that your CPU is twice as fast as the requirement? :D :D yours is a dual core with core 2 duo technology, the requirement is pentium 4...which is pretty old. Your CPU should be twice as fast, so you're fine

Also, the way the C2D chip processes its data, is much more efficient than a P4, so say you disabled one core in the Bios, the C2D 2.0 would still be faster than a 2.2ghz P4.

These days Ghz is really only a good comparison for cpu's in the same series.

    That's good news then :)

I got a little confused because when in Game the other day I noticed that the specs on the back of the box stated P4, but then had '/duo core processors' after that. I wasn't sure if it was misleading printing on their box or if my CPU was too slow. It seems the first is more the case :D

I should hopefully be able to play Red Alert 3 as well then, which is good news, however I am not sure if I should get that for PC and play it on my laptop or if I should just get it on my PS3 (PS3 has the downside of being more expensive game and using a pad rather than mouse, but the upside of being on a 42" HD LCD TV with full surround system. PC is portable and the game is a fraction of the price).

It ran perfectly, but I was very suprised at the graphics in the game. C&C Generals appears to have better graphics and I thought that was older!

Doesn't appear to be a lot of performance there really :)

I had another go with this. It appears that the software for some reason defaults to the lowet graphics settings for some reason upon install. After I put the settings up to max on everything it was much better :D

It's a great game and a bargain at the price it appears for online.
