On a desktop, removing the cmos battery is a primitive way of just resetting your bios settings (modern way being the use of jumpers I guess), which is what I want to do here on my m1530. However, I have never done this on a laptop before so Im being paranoid and thought I would ask....besides resetting my bios settings, will anything else be effected? I mean, the LT wont suddenly not recognize a component or something, right? Also, settings will go back to factory default and not some generic settings, right?

Yes, the BIOS just reverts back to default settings. Clock & Date will also be reset.
