I need a bit help, Ive a M1710 and the gfx has died usual for these, not warranted, I don't care about gaming just need it to work windows, so can I use an ATi card like x300 or x1400 as these are cheap and will be more reliable than nVidia cards, any ideas what will fit?
Any help or do I just smash it to bits and send it back to D-Hell....![]()

They are from Dell Insp 9300 9400 / E1705 and 6400, they have the same connector and heat sink but would they work?

I'm using a Toshiba Dynadock U10 and it works fine.
It has a built-in gfx card, which gives me a third monitor, which is no good for gaming but seems ok for video.
It might give you a first monitor
Whether your laptop will boot without a built-in gfx card is another matter though. -
Without a primary GPU, the notebook is not going to work. It probably will not even POST.
