I want XPS but should I wait for XPS with SB ?

The current/latest XPS 15 model is version L501 correct ? I was going to buy it but read some threads about CES and maybe Dell will roll out new XPS with SB soon after.

This might sound dumb but aren't some of you worried about getting the XPS with SB as soon as it comes out cause it maybe buggy, unproven ? I take it they test this stuff well. I never has a laptop before and it bothers me I can't build the laptop like I do for a desktop.

Right now they have the XPS 15 AT $799. Do you think when they do replace it with the SB one it will also start at $799 what are the odds ?

I have desktop with Mobo 1366 with USB3.0 and with my ext dock USB3.0 the speeds are not as great as I thought they would be. Ok heres the question will intel integrate the USB3.0 so it will be even faster that the tack on approche the the 3rd party companies use now for the 1366 mobo's ? Will intel make it std for SB ?

    thanks

USB 3.0 is NOT standard with SB. Manufacturers will still need to add a USB 3.0 chipset. SB is still worth waiting for. Go to Engadget and look at all the SB Core Gen 2 laptops that are shipping soon. Nothing has been released by Dell yet, but it could be a matter of hours.

To the first part; nobody is going to integrated USB 3.0 into their chipsets until a minimum of later this year or next year, both AMD and Intel. Intel Lightpeak is on the horizon, would not make sense putting adding in now USB 3.0 support.

And with any early adopter; no a brand new model will not start at today's prices. The XPS line is due to be refreshed later this month or next month.

Intel will be integrating USB 3.0 with Ivy Bridge the refresh of Sandy Bridge which is due out in Q4/11 or Q1/12.
