    Hi All,
I would really appreciate it if somebody could tell me if my XPS 1730 bought around 2006/2007 having a 128GB hard drive and an Intel Core2 Extreme processor can be upgraded to a 1TB hard drive. I have currently installed Windows 8.1 Pro on it? If this is possible, could you please tell me which hard drive to use? If not, can I atleast put in 500GB?

    Thanks in advance!!

Yes, you can put any 2.5" SATA drive into that laptop. You could upgrade capacity to a 7200rpm 1TB hard drive.

But I'd actually recommend you put a Solid State Drive (SSD) into that machine, for speed and performance purposes. You can get a 500GB SSD for about $220 USD these days, and often less with sales / deals / rebates. There are links in my signature that show comparisions of SSD vs. Mechanical HDD, to give you an idea about what kind of performance difference you can see.
