Hi Guys, I wanted to know if the Intel Ultimate-N 5300 Wireless Wifi Link Card will work on my Dell XPS M1530 laptop???

I currently use the Intel 4965A AGN so i have the 3 antennas connected to it, But i can't find any confirmation that the 5300 will work with the M1530. I see that it says it's for the Centrino 2 but i don't know if it's for a certain motherboard or chipset. Any help is much appreciated, Thanks.

Thanks for the reply, Do you have any confirmation??, I just don't want to spend money and time lost getting it if it doesn't work. I can't find anything online that anyone has installed the 5300 card on a M1530 and actually worked.

The card will work. You just have to find out if you need a full height or half height card. Full height number ends with MMW half height with HMW.

I think you need the full heights card but I am not 100% sure.

Im looking to replace the Dell wifi 1520 card on my 1647. I will be buying the Intel 5300 but I really dont know if it takes the half mini or the full height card. Tried to find the new Intel 6200 but no one sells it Weird. Any links to possible cards will be appreciated.

The 1647 takes the half height card. The 5300 would be the best choice due to supporting 3 antennas for sending/receiving.

    Ebay for $80

But ... they might be engineering samples and not the final retail version, but will work just as good

Just to update this thread, I can confirm with the others that 5300 will work with the M1530 with no problems. Using the WRT610N router on 5Ghz gave me average 300 Mbps. I'm happy i bought it!!!

    Thanks Guys!

hey all, sorry to hijack this thread but i've recently bought a 5300 from ebay. I had the blinking wifi light like whats been described but found out you can change this in the registry so i did that but the problem i'm having is after about 20 minutes or so my xps seems to freeze since installing this card. I've noticed that when i first switch the laptop on it will do it after about 20 minutes and when i restart it won't do it again but if i play a game or anything like that it will freeze. I've checked out if the mac address is that same on the card as in the properties and it is the same. I'm not sure what to do? whether i should send it back or get a laptop cooler. I've contacted the seller and he said to send it back for a refund, Has anyone else had this issue with their xps and this card? Its a full size btw and not a half size

I have this problem on the M1330.
Usually when power plugged in, pc would freeze after some time.
    On battery, more seldom.

Switched back to the 4965, so far no problems. Temperature (heat from the card) seems lower with 4965 than 5300.
