    https://www.howtogeek.com/265054/how-to-easily-reinstall-windows-10-without-the-bloatware/

According to this article, the new "fresh start" option in the creators edition of Win 10 allows for some kind of simplified process that allows for getting rid of all the bloat.

Has anyone done this on the 9560? If so, do you lose the software you have downloaded? Will all drivers be rolled back, including the latest BIOS update on Dell's page? Do you need to download onto a USB the .exe or .zip files of any drivers (not sure which it is as I've never done it) or is that not necessary with this feature?

Is there any big downside to fresh start or is it a great option for the less advanced user?

BIOS is nothing to do with windows so no it will not and cannot revert it., that article you posted explains everything else, if it is beyond your understanding I suggest you take it to a shop to have the work done as it is explained in great detail already and I can't see any way to expand on the article.

In short it is the same as downloading the latest windows minus any drivers on my custom ISO.

Thanks. I wasn't implying the process looks complicated. I more just wanted to know if people like you have any reservations about it. Will WiFi work after doing this process?

Also, it says files will be saved but 'apps' will be lost. Is downloaded software an 'app' or something else? If I loaded a database with a bunch of info into it, as well as some programs, will they be gone? If so, is there a way to back them up so they can easily be replaced on the new install or do I need to reinstall them and go through all their settings (some of them take a lot of time to setup).

It explains it will remove programs and tells you what it will remove, why not follow the initial part so it tells you what it will remove before backing out that way you know where you stand. It will backup your documents, wifi depends on windows already having a driver baked in.

Some people have reported various things when it comes to carrying out the update and the process afterwards when it comes to the drivers, some users have reported absolutely no changes but others have reported that some of the drivers do automatically update.

Personally I'm going to give it a couple of months at least before making the upgrade to CU. I've tested it as a clean install on the other 9560 I owned the other day and it did seem buggy, even after updating various drivers myself - the WiFi in particular (Killer) wouldn't hold a stable connection but was fine when running on 1607.

Also I hope that by a couple of months time, Dell would have updated their driver catalogue to reflect on the CU for full compatibility.

    Liam.

FYI I have a USB-C to RJ45 that works out the box with windows, it is a great way of getting on the network and is needed with Macrium to restore over a network as winPE doesn't do wireless backups.

Personally, I put CU right out of the box, as I was eager to get better DPI scaling and "gaming mode". I haven't found an issue yet. I opted against reinstalling Windows and instead, I removed most of Dell's crap manually (making sure they won't leave any remains on C:\).

Files on disc doesn't really do anything, registry etc on the other hand...

Yes, of course. I use RegSeeker to remove unused/broken entries.
