I was just checking for drivers for my 1640 (I recently re-installed Windows 7 RC 64 bit) and lo and behold, Dell is now showing 32 and 64 bit Windows 7 operating system choices for the drivers.
The available drivers you see when choosing 64 bit Windows 7 are certainly not all there by a long shot and most of them appear to be the same as the Vista drivers but it is at least a promising sign! The new Quickset driver appears to be specifically for Windows 7.

Windows 7 downloads 99% of SXPS's drivers automatically.

Yup and that is one of the great things about Windows 7. However, there are always cases where the manufacturer supplied drivers for certain devices are better/more up to date than the drivers supplied with the operating system.

Do you think dell will provide a drivers cd together with win 7 or do we have to download them ourselves?

IDT Audio driver is the same version and it's very buggy on Windows 7.
It needs updating. -
Yeah, I didn't even bother installing the IDT Audio driver. The sound works OK with the default Windows 7 audio driver and that will have to do until Dell releases a proper Windows 7 driver.

The new QuickSet 9.6.6 for Win7 x64 installs without question or issue on my M1530. Now if I could only get the damn Intel 5350 card to work.
