Hi,
I was thinking to upgrade to 64 bit windows 7.
I insterted the dvd and boot from it but when after clicking install button, it asks me to insert the drivers cd... and if I dont insert it, it doesnt continue..Any one wanna to help me?
Also, I read some wierd stuff on other sites, that people who are running windows 7 64 bit os are getting their laptops pretty hot...can anyone running windows 7 64 bit clear this doubt.
Thanks

That sounds crazy, that running Windows 7 would make your laptop run any hotter then Windows Vista. The only way that is possible is if Windows 7 is not downclocking your CPU (or GPU...which could be a driver issue), and it is running at full clock speed all the time.
I'm running Windows 7 Pro x64 on my M1530, and I don't think it is running any hotter then it did with Vista. I can also confirm that Windows 7 is properly throttling my T8300, you can watch it change between 1.2Ghz, 1.6Ghz, 2.0Ghz, and 2.4Ghz in Core Temp as it needs more/less power. My T8300 is also running in the low 40s, which is perfectly normal. -

Windows 7 has better power management, not worse. Not sure why a machine would run hotter with it assuming all settings are the same and appropriate drivers are used.

I have an Asus F8SP notebook and I never had an overheating problem with Vista. Now I'm on Win 7 X64 and my laptop gets very hot. I can play only about 30 minutes with any game and it shuts down. I'm going to reinstall Vista. Pity cos I really like some features of 7

I'm running Windows 7 x64 on my XPS 1640 (3670) without any problems. Really love the combination. windows 7 is much better and faster than vista.

Win7 is running cooler and much faster the sister (Vista)

I'm thinking that only the 64 bit version has this problem. When I backup my data I'll install W7 32 bit and see if that helps.
