I'm loving Window 7 on my machine, although i only gave it 30gb on a partition, but now i'm thinking of definately extending that :)

I'll definately be fully upgrading over Vista once Windows 7 available to purchase.

    I have the m1530 running win 7 x64 beta.

Almost everything seems to be working alright....occasional problems, especially in regards to sleep modes (won't wake up, have to hard reboot).

The problem I'm having is with the camera. Camera itself works alright, but the built-in microphone does not work at all.

I have tried several ways of getting this to work, but have not been successful yet.

Anyone have a clue about either the wake up issue or the microphone issue?

    thanks

Yu need to install the Sigmatel drivers for the microphone to work. Use the X64 Vista drivers. Worked fine for me.

Yes I do have the exact same problem with my mouse and keyboard. I have 32 bit Vista Ultimate with 64bit Vista 7 in 27GB partition. I thought the problem was with the 32 bit and 64bit installations but since you have all 64bit OS this may not be the case. I have installed the alps drivers from the Dell website with 32 and 64 bit respectifully but the mouse and keyboard still do not load sometimes. The only solution is to hold the power button down but I dont want to continue doing this b/c it could cause HD problems. If you anyone has a soultion to this let me know please!!

Hey has anybody managed to get a performance rating after instaling the sata drivers? mine says that it can't continue assessment due to an error in OS or drivers. I've attached an image!

Hi, i just had a little update on the slow drive performance.
i was also gettng 2.9 on my drive, however if you go into device manager and turn of the write caching on the disk, then the performance goes straight up, i now have a disk performance of 5.9 :)

the day i got my XPS M1530, i booted it with Windows 7, 64 bits, i used it for 2 months and today i switched back to Vista home premium 32 bits coz one of the games i had was having problem in 64 bits, now i know why people hate Vista, ing takes ages on start up and my machine is making so much noise. I am shocked how much an OS has effect on the noise that the hardware makes.

Im debating on whether or not to format and put W7 on my 1530. Anyone here have experience or know if FPS will be higher using W7 in games like Teamfortress 2 and Fallout 3?

    Thanks!

FPS and temperatures are EXACTLY the same, and i do play TF2 and it plays VERY nice!

so if you want to, go for it!

By the way, the vista video drivers from laptopvideo2go.com work fine in windows 7, no problem at all :D

I don't know if its because of Windows 7 or not, but I'm getting only a 4,000 3dmark06 score on Win 7 RTM.
I'm gonna install Vista to my other partition and see if it does any better.

Guys I als had the same problem ... The way out is to go to the UPEK website and download the new driver and Software .. The windows 7 is alright here, it does detect your Fingerprint reader, but the software is not working good with windows7 ... So Hope you get that working as well

As for Windows 7 ... Well I put it in only two days before ... Am satisfied with what I am seeing till now !!
