    Hello everyone,

I currently use the Dell XPS L502X. I know there are various ways to get Windows 8 running on my machine now, but I am choosing to wait until October 26th to upgrade.

My question: Are there any known issues with Windows 8 running on this machine? Driver/display/fan/performance issues? I want to do a clean install. Anything I should know before upgrading?

I would really appreciate the help.

    Thank you.

    Thank you very much krayziehustler,

It looks like all these issues will be fixed before the official release of Windows 8. So hopefully it is smooth sailing.

I imagine they will release a bios update or something to fix those issues since they have recognised them. I wouldnt worry but as its a brand new os i wouldnt be suprised if every pc out there experiences at least one issue or another.

I installed release preview this weekend; was too lazy to do a format, so just did the "upgrade" option. Almost everything works, except the "sleep" function. It goes to sleep fine, but when I press the power button to turn back on, it has a black screen for maybe 30 seconds, then restarts. Guess I'm going to have to format and do it properly after all...

Regarding the move to Windows 8, I seem to recall reading that this new OS will not be available as a "full" version, but only an upgrade. Meaning, if I do a complete format of my hard drive and wipe it clean, I then need to install Windows 7 before installing the upgrade version of 8. Seems crazy, so I'm assuming it isn't correct. Any word on this?

Microsoft will offer the "FULL" version because I am using Windows 8 Pro right now.

The deal that is being offered where you buy a laptop from june-jan 13 will get you the Upgrade version for $15 maybe that's what you heard

You're probably correct. Can't imagine MS wouldn't offer full versions of their new OS.

Can Win7 be installed problem-free on a Win8 native machine (i.e. brand new laptop preloaded with Win8, then revert to Win7) or will there be more driver/BIOS issues as well?

since the reverse it true, it shouldnt be a problem

but why would you want to downgrade from Windows 8? ;)
