Ok so I have a replacement coming in form my old 1640. When I look at the build, it has the intel wifi 6200. My current system has the Intel 5300 with Wifi Link. What I want to know is if the 6200 is better than the 5300.

No it's worse unfortunately. The 5300 supports MIMO 3x3 antenna system with upto 450Mbps Wireless N transfer rate, and the 6200 only has 2x2 antennas and 300Mbps transfer rate. Besides this I'd imagine that the hardware itself is slower and will result in lower transfer rates, more signal drops and worse connection, although it's still a high performance card. It might have lower power consumption though, but probably not by much.

I have a 5300 card in my e6400- its rock solid stable- connects and stays at 300MBPS- Great card

My 1640 has a Dell 1520- this card is good- it does hit 300 but will mainly stay about 230 most of the time-

My Wifes E6400 has a 5100 card- this card is crap- will be all over the place- 130 is the max- but will be in the 80s- but at times lower.

My replacement 1647 was ordered with the 1520 - but i suspect it will come with the 6200 card- ( which will get swapped with my e6400s link 5300.

Yeah my current SXPS 16 has the 5300 and the New one has the 6200. I am thinking about switching them out despite the 5300 being last gen.

By Intel Wifi 6200, are you talking about the Intel Centrino Advanced-N + WiMAX 6250? If so, I love mine so far. If not, disregard.

That is an option but they did not give it to me on my replacement. There is a 5200 which is a 2x2 card. That is the one I am getting.
