I was actually connected to our network and on the internet right out of the box, but when I tried to use an ethernet cable to transfer files from my computer to the laptop, it stopped being able to connect to the internet. I am connected to my wireless network right now, and I've tried disconnecting and reconnecting several times both on the laptop, and by unplugging and replugging the router in, but nothing works. Right now I have the ethernet disconnected, but it calls my network an "Unidentified network". It also tells me that I have "Limited access".

    Please help!

Hey there I'm not a pro by any means but when I got new desktop I had the same issue with "limited access" I called support and they had me go into my settings and manually enter the IP address/subnet mask/etc. try that

Hmm BenBeck's right, that's an IP address problem. Your computer is connecting to your router but not the internet. I'm on WinXP right now, but if you know how to open the properties of your ethernet connection (I think Network and Sharing Center >> click on "View Status" and then click "properties"), do so and make sure everything is set to automatic. Post a screenshot if you think it's useful and you're daring.

I did start>control panel>view network status and sharing>manage network connections>right click on your network>properties>highlight internet protocol version 4>Hit properties>>>>>>>>> If it's not on automatic put it on that and see what happens....if that doesn't work like in my case, you'll have to manually put in the Ip address, subnet mask, etc. you should be able to get them from your service provider......good luck
