i saw one in person and it was very nice. but imo i would not buy one unless you strictly want it for the wow stuff on it.. not worth the price difference..

If i had the cash laying around I would not hesitate to get one. They look REALLY nice. But overall its a beautiful 1730, but still a 1730. They charge a lot extra for a what you get.

Weird - I posted this yesterday - but see the post just showed now. During my search I was not able to find anyone who actually had one - some vid's on the net showing the unboxing etc.... I was not initially looking at the wow version but after researching and seeing the pictures I really liked the wow SKIN - I don't even play WOW - Lol -

In any event - I went ahead and pulled the trigger Today on the 1730WOW - Alliance skin (Got the MINI as well for Free - so felt it was a good time to BUY). Unfortunately they don't offer the 360's in Raid- so I got the 160 and plan to swap them out for 2 360's or possibly 2 500's. I configured it with pretty much all of the performance options avail - 8800's - Extreme Proc, went with the 4 year+Accident/Theft. Does anyone know how the "LoJack" works - do they install a tracker inside the laptop?

    Several Q's for 1730 owners

1 - Accident+Theft coverage- How does the Lo-Jack work and lets say your 1730 gets run over by a car - do they replace the 1730 with a new one?

2 - Raid on the 1730 - Does the Stripe set really make that much of a difference and 72 vs 5400? I'm running 10K disks on my Quad Core desktop and to tell you the truth I can't really tell the difference between 7200 drives.
Does anyone know how much a difference if any the Stripe set will make?

3 - OC'ing the 2.8 Proc - are folks running these at 3.4 or is the 1730 too loud with fans to OC?

4 - Finally - it appears the CAMERA is not an option on the Wow 1730 - is this true - or does anyone know? I'm hoping my lap will show up and I'll be surprised that the web-cam is by default installed....

ur confuguration seems to be alil overkill for wow though.

Actually I don't even know if WOW will be played on this laptop --- probably end up doing more work than play but timing is good seeing that the WOW expansion is coming out soon.

    1)yes,that`s what accidental coverage means...
2)it does, my single 320 7200 hdd does a 70Mb/s average, whereas RAID 0 with 2 of them does 100MB/s average. Faster installations is the one that is most noticeable, and faster hdd transfer.
3)OCability to 3.4 is nice, but turns the fans on max, Pro: LOWER temps overall, Con: yes, the fans can be irritating, but if you have a noisy desktop, it`s all the same, they`re not as bad as you`d think. The Xtreme Cpu is definitely worth it.
4)the camera is integrated, so it should be there...

eleron - Good info on the camera.... I just noticed that several configs showed the camera but on wow config there was no option for it. Was planning on replacing the 160 with 2 320's right off the bat since I wanted to go XP -but may wait a bit on this if it runs the programs I need it to. I don't think going from 2.6 to 2.8 is worth the $600+ but if it can run at 3.2 that would be worth it to me... although if its too loud I'll probably run it stock. I have a few quad core desktop's that are pleanty loud - would like to get away from that.

Running it at 3.2 won`t force the fans on max. Plus, you can undervolt and keep the system cool also.
With the undervolting that I use, my CPUs never see temps over 52C.
