Just got off the phone with a dell technician for cpu whine. Last month my computer died, they sent over a tech and he basically replaced everything in my laptop. The whine got ten times worst. I am on the phone with tech now and he is offering tech to come back and replace same exact parts or send it into Dell Depot for them to take a crack at it.
Is it worth sacrificing my laptop for 2 weeks? will dell likely tell me the whine is something "generally found in laptops" and i should deal with it? or has someone had their laptops successfully fixed by dell with respect to whine...
BTW they already rejected my request for an upgrade from my t7500...

I have multiple backup laptops in case one or more need to go to the shop. If one of the kids laptop goes, they can take mine and I'll have something else to use (they need theirs for college classes while I typically duplicate my environment on multiple machines).
I'm surprised at the report of a whine in a laptop. Usually these things are caused by moving parts. In a laptop, that could be the optical reader, disk or fan. Given the penchant for Dell to replace things, it would seem to me that they could replace enough parts to get rid of the problem. If you have on-site, have them do it that way so that you can check it out before the tech leaves. -
I think you should definitely send it in and if it comes back with another issue send it back again. Third time is the charm or if it isnt a new laptop for you
Two weeks will fly by fast. -
this whole thing is turning into a headache, they are having on site come by next week and upgrade my processor from t7500 to t9300, apparently the tech screwed up my laptop his last visit.
He is also changing the mobo. Hopefully that will be the last of that.
Thnx for the comments guys. -
ok, so i have had numerous experiences with depot... they are useless in my experience. they forgot to reinstall one of my hinges last time, how could that even happen? makes no seance at all. and i don't think they ever solved any problem for me, just replaced the same things the tech that comes out does, but i usually have an extra scratch or missing part though, which is nice because it is always nice to take care of your things and let someone else scratch it for you...
Worth sending m1330 for repairs?
