    Write protect error keeps popping up?

    I am playing some music on Winamp off my USB external hard drive and getting these wierd "Write Protect Error" message everytime I click on the next track. I am using Windows Vista x64 Ultimate. Here is the error message on the lower right hand corner of my screen:

    Any ideas what's going on?

    check if the drive has a slide switch for write protection....if so unlock it

    Nope no such thing. It's a Western Digital USB 160GB. This never happen before on any other computer I've used.

    See if the drive passes a chkdsk.
    I've had write protect errors on a desktop when the drive had developed bad sectors.
