You can make it play everything, just at terribly low settings with lots of lag and lower quality gfx for newer games.

It would be helpful for you to specify specific games rather than trying to cover the whole spectrum. X3100 does have Shaders, so it look alright for some games, dont expect to play CoD on anything higher than lowest settings without major lag or crashes.

Without playing, the card allows to make the same thing as a dedicated card ?

Office, Divx, vidéos, internet ? vista ?

    for the most part, yes..

u wont notice a difference when surfing/watching DVD(though your CPU might get higher a little, but more battery life)

for programs like CAD, maybe not, but regular usage, x3100 is good

Yes, it will play all of that.

On a related note, do people think the X3100 will be able to play starcraft 2 when it comes out?

I know there are no specs yet, but I imagine it to be similar to Command and Conquer 3.

Given blizzards track record, yes. Starcraft 2 will definitely run on it, probably between low to medium closer to low, just because its blizzard. They are very good at optimization. The game will look killer on higher end graphics cards, but at the same time, give options to run smoothly on lower end graphics cards.

For those tasks, yes, the X3100 is more than adequate.

Battery life power will be better with the Integrated obviously in all cases.

Temperatures also really arn't accurate since it all depends on the type of cooling that is used. They all should not be hot at all. My M1530 comes with 8600GT and it runs cool for me.

It also depends on the other hardware inside the notebook as well.

For all the tasks that you mention except for gaming, you really wont notice a difference between it and a better gfx card. Better gfx card matters more for gaming or for any 3d related work like CADD.

It all depends on cooling. But it most likely will be warm, but not hot. Theres really not a difference in temperature.

Cooling in XPS M1330 is to bad because laptop is small.

    I think ( i hope ? ) X3100 stocking less.

Please give your temperature actually with X3100.

I don't think anyone can give you the temperature of an X3100 because it has no temperature sensor.

HWMonitor reads and updates (*) ACPI Thermal Zone Temperatures. I'm pretty sure those are the Chipset temp. These are my current M1330 X3100 values:

In case you don't trust HWMonitor, you may use i8kfan:
    http://www.diefer.de/i8kfan/index.html

Which reports (with latest A12 BIOS):

Those values will raise once the desk is heated up by the laptop. I'm also using RMClock to undervolt notebook. Therefore the posted values might not be valid for others.

    Notebook has T7500 CPU @2,2GHz.

(*) SpeedFan, Intel Thermal Analysis Tool also read this, but don't update the value

    I did that.

    ambient: 24,6°C
    T7500 undervolted @1,025V @2,2 GHz

After a couple of hours of work the desktop table the laptop stand on, heats up as well. The maximum temps during 1280 x 800 gameplay were these:

Lifting the notebook off the table such that fresh air can flow gets to the bottom of the notebook (that's where the airflow gets into the laptop), results in 9°C less. These are my temps having laptop lifted:

How is the X3100 (the one in the XPS M1330) good at handling Warcraft III?
