    Hello,

Would this cpu work in a dell m1210? The 3.06 X9100?
If not I was wondering what's the fastest cpu I can upgrade to?
Found a few things online but most of them were way out of date.. just wondering if any of these new chips will work?

    Regards,
    Simon

    nope,since it uses different socket.

Yes, the fastest CPU the M1210 might support is the T7600.

    Hi there,

The T7600? Why wouldn't the T7800 work if I might ask?
I didn't think about different sockets.. I should have checked that... sorry.

Also, in case anyone might know as I'm finding it hard to find a chart with this..

How much faster in real terms would a T7800 be over a T2500 (which is what I have now).

Many thanks for all the help by the way!

    Regards,
    Simon

T7800 won't work as well. The T7800 has a completely different pin package as compared to the T2500. (Socket P vs Socket M)

Comparing the T7600 (2.33GHz; 4MB L2 Cache; 667Mhz FSB) and the T2500 (2.00GHz; 2MB L2 Cache; 667MHz), clock-to-clock performance difference isn't much at all. Even though, the architecture is different, merom vs yonah, both CPUs will perform similiarly. CPU Cache will come into play in tasks which actually use the cache, such as winrar, some games, some video encoders, etc.

Upgrade would be necessary to the Socket M Meroms if you consider going 64-Bit.

You will probably see more of a performance boost in windows more from a fast HDD and more RAM if possible.

Upgrading to the T7600 isn't worth it. It's fairly pricy and the benefits aren't very noticeable. As said before, try upgrading the memory and HDD first.
