I called up to order a Vostro 1500 and the salesperson told me they just released this thing. Now I can't decide what to get. My biggest concern is that I have apps that won't work with Vista. I know there are XP drivers released for the 1330 and 1730, but the Dell support website isn't working for the 1530 drivers (yet?). Do people think I would be able to install XP on the 1530 (and still have everything work right)?

No problem. It is just a matter of time for the right drivers to appear on Dell and elsewhere. Check here: http://support.dell.com/support/downloads/index.aspx?c=us&l=en&s=gen&SystemID=XPS_M1530

Dell (well, probably M$) is making it harder and harder to roll systems back to XP. I have an Inspiron 531 desktop due in (with Home Premium) and the XP drivers page is pretty sparse. Fortunately, for desktops anyway, they wind up using common parts (ASUS motherboard, Realtek audio, Nvidia chipset, etc) so I think I have all of the XP drivers downloaded and burnt to a CD - but I did most of this no-thanks to Dell. I just received my 1520/8600GT and the Dell support page was pretty good for XP drivers.

Thanks for replying.
Yeah, the Dell tech support guy I talked to said that they would release XP drivers for all the hardware on the M1530. Though using XP I forfeit any software support from them. -

did they say when

Give it time as they have yet to release all the Vista drivers. This system is pretty new so XP drivers won't be up anytime soon. My guess would be January sometime - right when sales are picking up for this system.

Those are for the devices listed above on that forum
I would reccomend following this guide
http://www.dellcommunity.com/suppor...hread.id=253132&view=by_date_ascending&page=1
It is for the 1330, since the 1530 & 1330 are almost identical they will work fine.
I am going to try this around 4PM MST and will let you guys know my progress.
The guide does not require slipstream windows with Sata drivers!! -
Yeah, im looking forward to your test of that, i want XP on my system directly to when it arrives, would be nice if you do a guide on it.
