Yes I also hear it, it sounds like a constant low frequency tone. It starts just before sound/music starts and stops just after the end.

I'm on my third machine and its the same thing again, especially when headphones are plugged in. How is nobody else noticing this?
    QHD+, i5, 256gb,

Edit1: ITS NOT THE SPEAKERS... put speakers on mute and it was still happening, every time a video starts/stops when a page is loaded a noise is made by the circuitry, like something is being switched on and off.

    Can anyone else confirm this?

The sound chipset powers down after a specified time of inactivity to save power. This causes the popping noise and the high-pitched tone in the headphone jack. This can be configured in the registry under HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Realtek\RAVCpl64\PowerMgnt.

The settings there are as follows:
DelayTime - time in seconds of inactivity which triggers powering down the sound chipset. Default is 10.
Enabled - enables the power management. Default is 0. Set to 1 to disable and always prevent these noises.
OnlyBattery - If power management is enabled, setting this to 1 will disable power management when the laptop is plugged in. The popping noises will only be heard when the laptop is on battery power, but this helps conserve power so the battery lasts longer.

Suggestions from the forum.... someone try this???

none of the above was in the registry, i tried dell audio manager as well and still couldnt turn the power management off... Apparently its a problem with all of realtek, the chip turns on and off everytime its not in use or is about to be used to "conserve energy" there must be a way to just keep it on at all times.

any body else know of a way to turn off realteks power management?

I've tried a lot, but nothing works. Don't know what to do. Especially, because not everyone has this issue. So what's different about our systems? I'm pretty sure it's a driver thing, at least i hope so.

everybody should have the same problem because its hardware based, and everyone has the same audio and graphics hardware, its the power management turning the card off when it is not in use which causes the popping noise.

But why are there no more complaints from other users? I hoped that maybe the A03 BIOS Update would fix it, but it's still there. Did someone find a solution in the meantime? I'm very happy with my XPS 13, but this drives me nuts!
