12.5" FHD XPS Convertible Tablet. Okay Dell ... you got my attention. I'm assuming Ivy Bridge ULV CPU and HD 4000 graphics. Let's see how this develops.

We have a great thread going on the Tablet PC site in the HP Slate 500 forum looking at new designs. Alternatives - Page 86 Would love to see a thunderbolt port on this.

Actually, thinking about it, I think I'd still much rather have the e6220...

    1. IPS Screen. Sure this tablet has 1080p, but I don't need that much resolution in a 12", it would bleed my eyes.

    2. Gorilla glass, so glossy :(

Otherwise, if they don't mess up the keyboard and build it to business-class quality, it may be a big win!

Since this unit is much of what I asked for when the XPS 13 was released, I don't want to quibble with details, but I would have liked a matt finish as well.

I also agree that the devil is in the details. Keyboard needs to be decent, as does the build quality. It has to be adequately powered as well. Thunderbolt port would be gravy. In all, however, I like it.

As much as I like the E6220, I would prefer a convertible tablet. This would be perfect for presentations.

I obviously can't say word one about this unreleased product, but if and when we are close to launching it, I will be back.

Gotta love the "Unofficial" seal of approval that this thing is real. I love it... I was all about the Yoga (for tablet/notebook integration) until I saw this post...

Hopefully this means a 1080p IPS panel will come to the X220/X230 soon...I wonder what panel manufacturer is it?

I love this. Seriously, the Duo was a great idea and this sounds even better.

The Duo was a great idea, though the pricing and what it turned out to be, not so much. They needed to fix the digitizer, and the Atom's sluggish performance made Dell learn from this, and this might be a significantly better product. Maybe a machined metal frame, as I held a Duo at my work, the plastic frame felt kinda flimsy.

Yea ... I have to really question Dell's policy on releasing information on new devices.

Aside from the enthusiast community, Dell generates almost 0 buzz about any of their products, which is a shame. The new XPS line is very competitive, yet no one but us really knows about it.

Come on, man! You just made me spit coffee on my keyboard with that one. LOL! Those are all over Engadget, Ubergizmo and elsewhere. If you count that as the enthusiast community, then what you say is true, and our policy on unreleased products will not change.

I'll say this about the system speculated about here: think about other moving parts, big companies, big ones, big ones who sell OS...They might have a say in what we can say here.

So you are trying to say that because MS wanted to reveal the surface... Dell is not allowed to release any real teasers about this convertible?

Not in so many words. I'd run afoul of the powers if I did that. ;)

Actually, if this product were to exist someday, it would be a ways off. I'd not get to excited about it at this point.

Sounds promising. Looks like this will be launched with Windows 8 so it'll be a while...

But there are so many competitor tablet/laptop hybrids already out there... I don't even know if this will be successful.

Will Dell be showing any tablets at the IFA in Berlin? I am pleased to see a Wacom digitizer on the new 10.1" Latitude Slate. Dell Latitude 10 and Win RT slate detailed plus wireless Ultrabook dock - SlashGear Unless N-Trig significantly improves their digitizers, this looks like the best of the 10" Dual Core Clover Trail Atom slates so far. Hopefully, we'll get a look at this slate at the IFA, along with its 12.5" brother.

Hopefully with the disaster XT/XT2/XT3 tablets and the N-Trig digitzers, Dell will learn their lesson and go Lenovo's route with Wacom digitzers. Just today we had an XT2 exhibiting the classic N-Trig driver crash, absolute garbage.
