    Hi,

I got my XPS 13 2015 edition with Ubuntu a few days ago. Have to admit that I'm very disappointed so far. From the first boot there have been nothing but problems. The installation configuration program crashed, the touchpad lagged so much it was useless, and the unresolved issue: the screen goes black at random.

It happenened just a few minutes ago. It's very strange since everything is working, except that I can't see anything. Music is playing, downloads are continuing, but the screen is completely black. The only way to solve it is to do a hard reboot.

It happens at least once an hour, so the computer is useless in its current state.

Have anyone else had this issue and know a way to solve it? I have all drivers updated to latest version available for Ubuntu 14.04 LTS.

    Regards,

    Hi,

not having this issue but do you have any possibility to dist-upgrade to 15.04 instead?

I´m using 15.04 (in dualboot with windows), just have trouble with hibernate or standby (which i just can use by commandline, else it won´t work successfully)

    Regards

You don't have your smartphone or any magnets near your laptop at the time, do you? I was having a similar issue, but it turned out the magnets in my laptop sleeve were triggering the sleep sensor on the laptop.

Same problem here: also XPS 13 2015 (9343), with QHD screen, but with Ubuntu 15.04.

Very odd, it is really random.

The only thing I do to fix the issue is to click on power to suspend. When it wakes up, the screen is back again.

Did you find any solutions to the issue ?

PS.: I don't think it has anything to do with magnetism. There is nothing close to the laptop when it happens -- so no magnets. Actually I'd be pretty surprised if a weak magnetic field could have any effects ...
