I have recently purchased a used Dell L322x and I upgraded the SSD drive to a 256gb SSD, and did a clean install of Windows 10. I want to manage some of the settings in Mobility options, but from what I have been reading I might need some Dell software to do that...

Is there a way to get the keyboard backlight to not turn off....it will stay on for short periods and then fade away...

Hopefully some of you XPS guys can help me out....so far I am loving this little machine.... (minus the trackpad)

No to keyboard backlight auto-off. The auto-off feature of the keyboard backlight is embedded in firmware, and isn't configurable of modifiable.

I actually liked the L322x trackpad on Windows 8/8.1 ... Had it for 2 years but when I just upgraded to 10 it made the trackpad worse.

You're right in that the machine is great. Do you happen to work in the Bay Area? I recently sold my XPS 13 lol ...
