Hey guys, I have an XPS 13 2015 FHD which seems to have black bars along the bottom of the screen and the left side. It's like a black void between the actual display and the bezel. Here are the photos:

Is this supposed to be normal? Anyone else experiencing this?

Yes, I have a similar issue with my screen, the screen doesn't quite touch the bezel on the right side. Everywhere else is fine though.

Normal. Edge-to-edge / infinity display is only for the QHD (1440p) model. The 1080p model uses a much more traditional LCD panel without glass, that's inset slightly into the bezel.

But the said inset in only on one side, the rest three sides, the screen is right up to the bezel.

By "inset", I mean it is set deeper into the laptop lid (Z-axis) and not flush with the bezel edges. I don't mean X/Y axis orientation.

But in any case, if it makes you feel better, I have exactly the same situation as you (except my blackspace is at the bottom edge). I also never noticed it until you mentioned it, and I still don't notice it unless I intentionally look for it.

So it looks like imperfect alignment of the LCD displays, just as a manufacturing quirk. Probably not much you can do about it, since any kind of replacement panel would also have a similar problem.

The only thing I can think of is that if you're feeling brave enough, you can disassemble the laptop lid, and manually tinker around with the screws (and metal mounting brackets) to try and bend the screen into a centered mounting position. Never done it, never heard of anyone doing it, but I'd bet it's a colossal pain-in-the-rear. But it might be worth it to you, if the screen alignment bothers you that much.
