Hi,
Apologies if this has been covered already, but I couldn't see it. I have the i7 QHD+ XPS 13 and scrolling graphically intensive websites like The Verge and Polygon, causes the screen to redraw quite badly. The faster you scroll, the more noticeable it is. This does not happen in IE11.
Hardware acceleration is enabled and if I go to chrome://gpu I can see it is working. The only thing not showing as Hardware Accelerated is Rasterization which says" Software only, hardware acceleration unavailable".
Is anyone else getting this, and if so, have you found anything to resolve it? It feels as if the laptop doesn't have the horsepower required to push the QHD+ screen around, but it's fine in IE11 so it must be a Chrome thing...
Thanks in advance.

Yeah Chrome is rubbish. It also reduces your battery life by 3-4 hours at the same time. Use IE.
-
Thanks. I need to use Chrome for work and am usually plugged into the mains, so I can't really avoid it. I wonder if it has always been that bad... Might go back to an older version and see if the same issue is there. If I find anything interesting, I'll post it back here.
What's weird is that my friend's Surface Pro 3, which is less powerful, doesn't have this issue. I know that is slightly lower res, but the difference is noticeable. -
You will also notice that if you scroll by touching the screen it works fine.
-
I found it was the 200% scaling that was causing the issue in Chrome, when I turned the scaling to normal Chrome behaved as normal as well but it's not really a usable solution as many elements are far too small.

If we were to enable hardware acceleration in chrome..would that help?

Hi - just a quick note to say that the problem seems to have been almost entirely removed by the 30th March BIOS update for the laptop.

Hi,
The scrolling still isn't as smooth as in IE, (it's the same as before) but the problem where it redraws the content as you scroll is vastly improved. -
If I hadn't read about the Chrome vs IE scrolling problem, I would never had noticed it myself, i.e. it's fairly subtle. Yes, it is slightly smoother in IE, but not enough to make me drop Chrome (and therefore bookmark and browser history syncing with my Android phone).
CPU and battery usage on the other hand, that would be enough to drop Chrome, but I've only read anecdotal statements about it so far. -
