XPS 13 9370 not using C States

Hi Everybody,
i just got my Dell XPS 13 and I am having a few battery problems.
I started using Throttlestop and noticed that the CPU never goes above C2.

Does anyone know what the problem could be?

 

Those are your package c-states which appear stuck at c2, whilst your core c-states are hitting c7. Core c-states seem drop rather quickly once you are out of idle so my sense is they are less important from a power consumption perspective; not sure. There are some 9550 and 9560 posts here with tips to "optimize" package c-states (and some posts on the ThrottleStop Guide); not sure that will work on your system but take a read through.

If you are trying to minimize power consumption, first order is to get idle power consumption below say 1 Watt (that is shown on front page of ThrottleStop (next to package power button). You can do that getting idle processes under control. The ThrottleStop Guide has lots of tips to help.

 

From what I've gathered there doesnt seem to be a definitive fix for this.. Do you maybe remember some specific threads? You mentioned there are tips to optimize C states?

 

Search the 9550, 9560 threads here from say the past 6 months.

Also the ThrottleStop Guide from the past 6 months.

With some minor tweaks we were able to "improve" package c-state activity significantly.

 

UPDATE: I finally found the solution.
I reset the RTC by holding power for 30 seconds and now the CPU will go up to C10.
Just remember to switch back to AHCI if you were using it before after doing the reset, otherwise it wont boot.
