I always do chipset drivers first. Then the rest of the intel stuff followed by video, audio, sd card etc..

Order doesn't matter, at least in the case of the new XPS 13. I deleted all original partitions the moment I got the laptop, created one for OS, one for general storage, installed Windows 8.1, downloaded all Windows updates, installed all Dell drivers except for the video one. Voilà, works like a charm.

Did you have to do anything special to maintain UEFI boot and keep the corresponding boot performance really good?
Also, I had just posted this, can you advise how much battery drain you get when you close the lid say for 8-12 hours? I'm thinking mine might be draining rather quickly.

    Thanks

How much space did you save by doing clean install? I have the signature edition which came with little to no bloatware

Signature edition should be fine. The dell version comes with like 4-5 partitions on the ssd.

Hi, could you please explain how to do a clean Windows 8.1 system installation? I have created a bootable USB restore disk, but all dell's stuff are still there. One of the things I hate most is the impossibility to install drivers that are not certified by Dell.
    Thanks.

    Hi,
can you please tell me if the signature edition contains Dell's software for drivers update or backup?
Can you install on the signature edition the latest Intel 5500 display drivers?

    Thanks in advance.
    Regards,
    Giuseppe

For those who did a clean install - are there any included Dell software that you installed (like the Dell Update Service or Dell Command) anything worth keeping that came with the computer from Dell?
