So what benefits does a WLED screen offer? Is it cooler? Better battery life? Or is the color just better?

The main benefits of an LED screen are better battery life (lower power consumption), a brighter display, and more even backlighting. It doesn't really have anything to do with color reproduction, in fact, some LED screens have relatively poor color reproduction.

An RGB LED, on the other hand, is also much more accurate in color reproduction.
