Trying to get some info on the USB C adapter. The one on the Dell US site is:

    http://accessories.dell.com/sna/productdetail.aspx?c=us&l=en&s=dhs&cs=19&sku=470-ABQN

Here in AUS the only one I can find available is this:

    http://accessories.ap.dell.com/sna/productdetail.aspx?c=au&l=en&s=dhs&cs=audhs1&sku=470-ABNL

Is it the same adapter? At the bottom of the page it says:

    "Compatibility
This product is compatible with the following systems:
    XPS 12 (9250)"

Also on the XPS page on the Australian Dell site here:

    http://www.dell.com/au/p/xps-13-9350-laptop/pd?oc=y51of93au&model_id=xps-13-9350-laptop

it shows what looks like the same adapter but says "coming soon". I'm confused! Are these all the same adapter?

I have the US version. The AU version looks identical to mine.

I'm just wondering why two different part numbers:

    US = 470-ABQN
AUS = 470-ABNL (this is the one that says compatibility = XPS12)

    Even Dell sales don't know!

USB type C is USB type C. That's the nice part of a standard.... It's the same anywhere you go.

If the part numbers are different, it could be because the packaging (e.g. manuals, etc) are different. The Australian version would have paperwork that shows certifications and compliance with Australian regulations. The US version would have paperwork showing US addresses, and compliance with US regulations.

It's not uncommon with electronics. Something like a smartphone will have different model numbers for different countries, simply because they include different paperwork in the box to show that the device complies with US / EU / Asian / other regulations on radio-based telecommunication devices.

    Okay, hopefully you are correct.

Eventually the sales guy on chat said the Aus one would work fine with the XPS 13 and said the "coming soon" was an out of date page. I've kept the chat transcript just in case!

Anyway I've ordered it now - used a 15% off coupon and cashback link.

Does anyone know of a USB-C adapter that has power, a USB port, and some kind of video out (HDMI or Mini-Displayport)? Apple makes one for the MacBook, but I'm not sure that would work on the XPS 13...

I had this for a bit with my XPS 15 and it worked great (VGA and USB-A), although I did not test the USB-C power functions. I returned it as the Dell adapter came out and I thought that would better fit my needs.

Has anyone purchase and received the Dell adapter? The reviews on Amazon are terrible and state that the HDMI is non-functional and the USB is intermittent. Would like to know before I purchase it myself from Dell

Hmm, that doesn't sound good. I just received mine today (it's tiny!) but I haven't received the laptop yet so cannot test it.

I purchased the Dell USB-C adapter from Amazon today after it came back in stock. Apparently the latest Dell Thunderbolt updates resolved the bugs per a review, but should note that you can't use the VGA and HDMI at the same time. Will update here if I find anything new in my own testing.

Received it yesterday and it works as expected after updating the Thunderbolt firmware and drivers. However the fan runs constantly at about medium speed when connect with HDMI and USB, which it did not when using internal HDMI port

Anyone experience freezing when connecting this adapter after waking from sleep?
